Services we do not provide

It is only right to point out some services we cannot provide.

Insolvency work

We do not have a licensed insolvency practitioner in the practice. However, we do maintain contacts with licensed insolvency practitioners and can provide guidance on using their services.

If you have a delinquent customer, early advice on protecting your position can be worthwhile.

Choosing investments

Our investment business license allows us to give a limited range of investment advice that is incidental to our main services. For example, we can advise on the relative merits of stock market investments, pension schemes, ISAs and buy-to-let properties. However, we are not permitted to select particular stock market investments or choose between pension providers. For that we have to introduce you to a stockbroker or pensions adviser.

Probate and executorship

Currently, solicitors have a statutory monopoly over the preparation of probate applications for a fee. You do not need to employ a solicitor. If you are an executor, you are perfectly entitled to prepare your own probate application. The government Probate Service are very helpful in giving general advice. However, we are not permitted to help you.

If you have a more complex estate and need a solicitor, you can ask him to delegate to us the assembly of the information and preparation of the inheritance tax forms. We can do that for your solicitor, but we are not allowed to do it for you.

The law will soon change and we intend to apply for a license to undertake probate work as soon as we are able.

Public company work

We do not do any work for publicly quoted companies. We like working for private and family businesses and their owners.
