Four partners of varying experience serving the family business
Clive Underwood FAPA
Clive is a general partner who trained in Winchester with a medium sized independent practice. He founded the firm in Winchester in 1965 before moving it to Chandlers Ford in 1969 and to the present premises in 1973.
Clive has an agricultural background and specialises in supporting farmers and family businesses. He also has a strong interest in the management of residential properties.
His main hobby is motorbiking.
Nick Barron FCA
Nick is a general partner who trained in Southampton with a substantial independent practice that was then acquired by a national firm. He moved with that firm to their Gloucester office to head up the integration of several firms that had been acquired. In 1991 he moved back to Hampshire and joined this practice.
Nick is keenly interested in the marine leisure industry. He also has an interest in property development
His main hobby is sailing with various members of his family.
Alastair McDougal BA FCA
Alastair trained in Southampton with a multinational firm and became an audit manager before joining our firm. His specialisation is the auditing of companies and small pension funds.
His main hobby is rugby, which he hopes to continue playing in spite of injury!
Charles Baker BSc FCA CTA
Charles trained in Newcastle with a major firm where he qualified as both a Chartered Accountant and Chartered Tax Adviser. Then he worked in London for a small multinational before moving to Winchester in 1982.
Charles' interests centre around the taxation of family companies. His specialities include negotiating settlements of taxation irregularities. He is also knowledgeable about appeal tribunals.
In the early days, Charles established the firm's electronic filing of tax returns and has has kept us at the forefront of developments.
His main hobby is gliding at which he is a qualified flying instructor. He is the gliding representative for the British Aerobatic Association and is a regular competitor in aerobatic contests.
Outside interests
The partners and staff hold various unpaid appointments in support of charitable and public bodies.
